For preschoolers, one of the biggest questions open-ended can be asked is "what you want to be when you grow up? "When asked this question, many preschool children tend to point to the stars. However, this question can be an easy introduce a unit on occupations and community helpers, two topics that may be explored if games, activities, crafts and even guest speakers.
Helpers in the Community
It is important to teach preschool children about the many tasks of the assistants of the community, such as doctors, dentists, nurses, teachers, postmen and police officers. Start by asking the children if they know that any adult with these professions to see how children know about the tasks associated with these occupations.
By learning about the doctors and nurses, try this fun art called "Fix my wound. "To this art, trace the outline of the child's arm or leg on a piece of paper. Children are color or paint their limbs, a small wound. Once the paint has dried, shredded distribute to children so they can place over the wounds in their crafts. Then, each child has a story to the class about how hurt and helped them solve it.
Here is a craft where the children make cards which is perfect for police learn about safety and the police. To start the boat, cut a series of cardboard plates, each plate and cover with foil. Use stickers to decorate logos, or test patterns engraved on the order sheet with a stubby brush.
